At CNX, we strive to maintain a uniform and predictable pricing model across all our Points of Presence (PoPs). However, some data centers incur high interconnection costs, such as expensive metro transport links, making it necessary to introduce a location-specific Infrastructure Fee to ensure financial sustainability.
Why does CNX charge an Infrastructure Fee?
To integrate certain high-cost data centers into the CNX core network, we must maintain redundant metro connectivity, which incurs a significant monthly operational cost. Instead of increasing fees for all members, we apply a location-based Infrastructure Fee only to members at affected sites.
Which locations does this apply to?
Currently, this fee applies only to Metfone Data Center (VTC6) due to high redundant metro link cost required to integrate the site into the CNX core.
How is the fee calculated?
The Infrastructure Fee is added to the standard port and PNI pricing for members at this location:
Service | Standard Fee | Infrastructure Fee | Location Total |
---|---|---|---|
10GE | ៛ 2,200,000 | ៛ 5,200,000 | ៛ 7,400,000 |
100GE | ៛ 14,000,000 | ៛ 5,200,000 | ៛ 19,200,000 |
PNI (L2) | ៛ 4,400,000 | ៛ 5,200,000 | ៛ 9,600,000 |
Will this fee change in the future?
Yes. The Infrastructure Fee will be reviewed periodically as new members join the location. Once there are enough participants to fairly distribute costs, the fee will be reduced or removed.
Can I help reduce this fee?
Yes! The more participants that join this location, the lower the costs for all members. If you know peers interested in connecting at this site, encourage them to join CNX at this location to help bring down the shared cost.
