Community Services

Community services

CNX is proud to offer a range of community services designed to enhance the stability, security, and performance of the internet. These services are available to all CNX members and the broader network community, helping to strengthen collaboration and operational excellence.

DNS Root Servers

CNX provides access to DNS Root Servers, ensuring low-latency DNS resolution for all peering participants. Access to these servers is automatic if you are peering with the CNX route server.

E-Root NASA - PCH, USA PCH
I-Root NetNod, Sweden Netnod
M-Root WIDE, Japan APNIC
PCH Top Level Domain Services

Through our partnership with Packet Clearing House (PCH), CNX supports Top Level Domain (TLD) services. Access is automatic for networks peering with the CNX route server, facilitating improved DNS performance and resilience.

AS112 Project Services

CNX hosts AS112 services to handle reverse DNS queries for private IP addresses, reducing unnecessary traffic on the global internet. Networks peering with the CNX route server automatically gain access to this service.

RPKI Validator Service

CNX operates three redundant RPKI relying-party validators for directly connected members. Members can use the service to apply Route Origin Validation to routes learned from the route servers, bilateral peers, and transit providers. Router access is provided over the IPv6 peering network rather than the public internet.

Member NTP Service

Directly connected Exchange members can synchronise their routers from CNX's time infrastructure over the IPv6 peering network. The service is restricted to traffic sourced from the member's assigned peering address and is not a public NTP service.

Route Servers

CNX operates route servers to simplify multilateral peering while traffic continues to flow directly between members. See How the CNX Exchange works for the service model and policy boundary.

Looking Glasses

CNX provides Looking Glass tools to gain insight into routing and network paths. Explore this service on our Looking Glasses page.

RIPE Atlas Anchors

CNX hosts a RIPE Atlas Anchor node to facilitate non-partisan measurements for the network community. We encourage peering participants and the broader network community to join the RIPE Atlas project. If you need credits to perform experiments using the RIPE Atlas network, please feel free to contact us.
